Obituary Condolences

Mr. Francis A. "Frank" Nealon, 85, of Milford MA, died Monday (May 26, 2014) at his residence after a courageous battle with cancer surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Rita M. (Berardi) Nealon. Mr. Nealon was born in Carbondale PA and was a graduate of West Catholic High School in Philadelphia PA, Class of 1946. He was also a graduate of St. Joseph's College in Philadelphia PA, Class of 1951. He later obtained his master's degree in European History from Villanova University in 1960. In 1974 he obtained a master's degree in psychology & counseling from Assumption College and in 1997 he achieved an advanced graduate studies degree in counseling psychology from Assumption College. Mr. Nealon was a 20-year veteran of the US Air Force having served from 1951 to 1971 during the Korean Conflict and including one tour of duty in Viet Nam. He attained the rank of Major, serving as a navigator and also as a flight instructor for training navigators. Mr. Nealon had been employed as a school counselor and then later as a school psychologist for the Milford public school system for about 25 years. Mr. Nealon was a longtime communicant of St. Mary of the Assumption Church and very active in the "pro life" movement for many years. As an avid long distance runner he was a founding member of the Tri-Valley Front Runners Club and had served as a director for many years. Also, as an avid outdoorsman he enjoyed hiking and kayaking with his many friends. Along with his wife of 57 years, he is survived by his 7 Children: Kathleen, wife of Charles Barrs of Sherborn MA, Maria, wife of Randall Lehman of Hopedale MA, Stephen Nealon and his wife Marissa of Milford MA, Anne, wife of Tom Daoust of Uxbridge MA, Teresa Manzo of Worcester MA, Patricia, wife of Daniel Smith of Milford MA and Margaret, wife of Patrick Cornelius of Hopedale MA; 9 Grandchildren; 1 Great Granddaughter; 1 Sister: Marie Adickes of Palm Desert CA; several nieces and nephews. His funeral, with Military Honors, will be held Friday (May 30th) at 9am from the Edwards Memorial Funeral Home, 44 Congress Street, Milford MA followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am in St. Mary of the Assumption Church, 19 Winter Street, Milford MA.
