Mr. Bruno Zacchilli, 95, of Hopedale MA and formerly of Milford MA, retired longtime Milford Police officer, died Tuesday evening (June 17, 2014) at Countryside Healthcare of Milford after a period of declining health. He was the husband of the late Cynthia E. (Gilson) Zacchilli, who died in 2009. Mr. Zacchilli was born in Pesaro Italy, the son of the late Nicola and the late Cesira (Spadoni) Zacchilli. He attended Milford public schools as a boy. He had been a resident of Milford for most of his life, moving to Hopedale in 1995. Mr. Zacchilli was a WW II US Army veteran attaining the rank of Staff Sgt. He was a longtime member of the Italian-American Veterans Post #40 of Milford and the Marchegiano Club of Milford. He was an avid bocce ball player and enjoyed visiting Foxwoods. He also loved to return to Italy to visit family and friends. Mr. Zacchilli was a longtime member of the Milford Police Department for over 25 years and had also worked as a truck driver for the former Rosenfeld Concrete Company and as a bus driver for the Guiliani Bus Company that served the Milford public schools. Mr. Zacchilli is survived by his 3 Children: Toni, wife of Dudley Young of Brewster MA; Karen, wife of Charles Van Houten of Stonybrook LI; David Zacchilli and his wife Diane of San Diego CA; 6 Grandchildren: Adrian Young, Jared Van Houten, Rachel Zacchilli, Ryan Zacchilli, Zachary Zacchilli and Zoe Zacchilli; 1 Brother: Ersto Zacchilli and his family of Natick MA; also many nieces and nephews. Mr. Zacchilli was the father of the late Nancy Jean Zacchilli, who died in 2011. His funeral, with Military Honors, will be held Friday (June 27th) at 9am from the Edwards Memorial Funeral Home, 44 Congress Street, Milford MA followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am in the Lower Chapel of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, 7 East Main Street, Milford MA. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Milford MA. Visiting hours will be Thursday (June 26th) from 6pm to 8pm at the Edwards Memorial Funeral Home. Visit for condolence book.
