Marie (Mastroianni) Perna, 83, of South Yarmouth, formerly of Milford, Mass., passed away on November 9, 2012 after a courageous 18 month battle with cancer. Marie was born in Milford, MA to Frank and Clara (Andreola) Mastroianni on May 6, 1929. She attended Milford High School and graduated in 1947. Marie worked at Natick Research and Development Laboratories in Natick, MA form 1953 to 1958, where she met her husband of 55 years, Joe. She was the Assistant Town Treasurer in Milford from 1972 to 1978. After the family moved to Cape Cod in 1978, Marie worked at Gregory Drake Realty, as administrative assistant for wrestling promoter Vince McMahon at the Cape Cod Coliseum and then at the Dennis Town Clerk's office for 22 years before retiring in 2007. Marie enjoyed cooking for family and friends, reading, and taking trips to California and Florida. Marie is preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Clara Mastroianni and her brother Frank Mastroianni, Jr. She is survived by her husband Joseph Perna of South Yarmouth; a brother Anthony Mastroianni of Mendon, MA; sisters Connie Bellantonio of Milford, MA; and Barbara Shults of Upton, MA; a daughter Patricia Thompson of Merrimack, NH; sons Anthony Perna of York, ME and Joseph Perna of Los Altos, CA; and six adoring grandchildren, Justine and Nicholas Thompson, Melissa, Angela, Alyson and Meghan Perna. Visitation will be held on Wednesday November 14, from 5 - 8 pm at the Morris, O'Connor & Blute Funeral Home, 58 Long Pond Drive, South Yarmouth. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday November 15, at 11am at Saint Pius X Church, Station Ave., South Yarmouth. Burial will follow at 1pm at Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne, MA.
