William H. "Bill" Lunny Jr., 88, of Hopedale passed away Sat. Feb.23, 2013 in Milford Regional Medical Center surrounded by his loving family. He was husband for 53 years to the late Agnes R. (Roche) Lunny. He was born and raised in Auburndale, MA, son of the late William H. Lunny, Sr. and Dorothy (Drew) Lunny and had attended Newton High School. Bill is survived by his 5 children, Janet O'Neil and her husband Paul, Jeanne Lunny, Stephen Lunny, Suzanne Lunny and Sandra Baldi and her husband David, all of MA. He was grandpa to 7 and has 2 great-grandsons. He was the brother to the late Patricia Kilmain of Abilene, TX and is survived by his brother Donald of Carlisle, MA, and sisters Sheila Duffy of Darien, CT and Sandra Lunny of Newton, MA. He is also survived by cousins, many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews and will be greatly missed by all. Bill served in the US Army Air Corps during WWII as an airplane engine mechanic and was stationed in Guam. As a young man Bill jumped into the icy, winter waters of the Charles River saving the life of a boy who had fallen through thin ice. As a teen, Bill felt fortunate to have ushered at Fenway Park and he remained a true and lifelong Red Sox fan. He was an avid fan of all Boston sports but his real love was golf. He enjoyed dancing and singing to his favorite big band music. Bill and Agnes moved from Newton to Natick and then Framingham where they resided for over 20 years. After retiring from his job as a Custom House Broker in Boston, Bill went to work as a driver for ADESA; he loved to be behind the wheel. Bill moved to Hopedale in 2003 after the loss of his wife. Funeral services, with military honors, will be held Thurs. Feb. 28, 2013 at 10 AM from the Buma-Sargeant Funeral Home, 42 Congress Street, Milford MA followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM in the Sacred Heart Church of Hopedale, 187 Hopedale St, Hopedale, MA. Visiting hours will be held Wed. Feb. 27, 2013 from 4:30 - 8 PM in the funeral home.
