James Faulkner Jr.

James Herman (Jimmy) Faulkner, Jr. was a native and a life-long resident of Bay Minette, Alabama. He died on March 2, 2014 at the age of 75 after a lengthy illness. He was preceded in death by his parents, Evelyn Irwin Faulkner and James Herman Faulkner, Sr. He is survived by his wife, Beverly McLeod Hultz Faulkner, five children, James Herman Faulkner, III, Jenny Camp, Mary Jane Harris (Floyd), Rebecca Stewart (Andy), Rachel Todd (Steve), 10 grandchildren, his brother, Dr. Henry Wade Faulkner (Ann), 2 stepchildren, Roxanne Hultz Chance, and Wilfred R. Hultz, III (Tammy) and 4 step grandchildren. He attended Indian Springs School in Indian Springs, Alabama and graduated from Baldwin County High School in Bay Minette in 1956, graduated from Marion Military Institute in 1958 receiving an associate in Arts Degree and then graduated from The University of Alabama in 1960, receiving a Bachelor of Science in Commerce and Business Administration degree. While at the University of Alabama he was a member of Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity. Jimmy served as an officer in the United States Army and in the Alabama National Guard. At one time, he was a co-owner of several Baldwin County newspapers including the Baldwin Times, Delta Oil Company and Minute Stop, Inc. At the time of death, he was the owner of Faulkner Realty and Faulkner Insurance. He is a past president of the Alabama Press Association. In 1970-71, he served as the president of the Bay Minette Rotary Club. The Rotary Foundation of Rotary International presented him with the Paul Harris Fellow Award. In 1992, he served as the president of the North Baldwin Chamber of Commerce. He received the Harry Still, Sr. Award for his outstanding efforts on behalf of the Bay Minette Public Library. In 2005, the North Baldwin Chamber of Commerce named him "Citizen of the Year." A visitation will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, March 5, 2014 at the Bay Minette Church of Christ on Pine Street with the funeral services following at 11:00. Billy Lambert will be officiating. Pallbearers will be Tom McMillian, Tom Mitchell, Don Robinson, Buddy Steele, Taylor Wilkins, and Bob Wills. In lieu of flowers memorials may be sent to a favorite charity.
