Cagle, Roy Douglas  
Roy Douglas Cagle Aug 17, 1949 - Apr 21, 2015 Roy Douglas Cagle, 65, of Modesto, Ca. He is survived by his wife Cora, children, Jason, Chad, and Brandy. Roy was preceded in death by his father Edwin Cagle. Roy was an active member of the Elks Lodge and American Legion. His enormous personality, generosity and friendly smile will be sorely missed by all of his friends, as well as his family. Services will be held on Monday, April 27, at St. Joseph's Church at 9:30 AM and a celebration of life at 6pm at the Elks Lodge. www.cvobituaries.com

Cifuentes, Pablo - Modesto  
Pablo V. Cifuentes B. October 11, 1924 - March 28, 2015 Pablo V. Cifuentes passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family in Modesto, Ca. on March 28th. He was as born on October 11, 1924 in Armenia, Colombia, South America to Jose Pablo Cifuentes and Maria Cifuentes Bustamante. Pablo emigrated to New York in 1964 with dreams of a better life for his family. His wife Ofelia and 5 children were able to follow one year later. They then moved to Willingboro, New Jersey where they raised their family. Pablo was a machinist and a very hard worker. He retired in 1979 after having worked for the Burlington County Ammunition Plant and Container Corporation of America. They then moved to Modesto, Ca. to be near their daughters after a short stint in Ocala, Florida. After moving to Modesto, Pablo worked at Gottschalk's Department Store. In the early 90's Pablo and Ofelia divorced and he moved back to Colombia where he met Rubiela Arias. They moved to Delray Beach Florida where they married and lived until Rubiela's death in 2013. After her passing Pablo returned to Modesto, California where he lived until his death. Pablo loved to travel, having visited several countries in South America and the Caribbean. He was full of life and even in his last two years visited family in New Jersey and in Panama. He loved to dance, sing, laugh, loved music of all kinds and loved a good party. Above all he loved his family. He was a talented craftsman who enjoyed working with wood and loved building pieces of furniture and rocking horses for his grandchildren. He could fix anything. Pablo was a very sweet, compassionate and generous man who was loved by all who met him. He made a big impression on everyone with his sparkling blue eyes and friendly smile. Besides his wife Rubiela, he is predeceased by his parents, siblings, Rosalba Obregon, Frinia Cifuentes, Hernan Cifuentes and niece Lucero Obregon all from Cali, Colombia and nephew George Ganeden from Virginia. He is survived by his former wife and companion Ofelia Cifuentes, Modesto, Ca., sister Carmen Ganeden of Panama City, Panama and sister-in-law Fidela Morales of Modesto, CA, children Mary Ellen Geary (Mike), Martha Hartmann (Curtis) and Gloria Cifuentes all of Modesto, CA. George Cifuentes, daughter-in-law Donna from Tabernacle, N.J. and Ruth Cifuentes-Berk, Moorestown, N.J. Former son-in-law Daniel Smith (Molly), Modesto, Stepdaughter Jovanna Botina (Alex), Delray Beach, FL. He is survived by 11 grandchildren, Jason Smith (Sherri), Blake Smith, Nicholas Cifuentes (Kitty), Jonathan Cifuentes all of California. Andrew Cifuentes, Michelle Haines (Bobby), Haley Berk and Daniel Berk all from New Jersey, Chris Aguilera (Casey) Iowa, Sara Aguilera, Las Vegas and Matthew Aguilera (Sabrina), Florida. 19 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews who loved him like a father. Pablo was a very special man and was well loved. He is missed dearly and will never be forgotten. DeJong, Gerben  
Gerben DeJong Dec. 1924 ~ Apr. 2015 Gerben was born in Friesland, Holland and immigrated to the United States in the late 1940's.  He was a dairyman in California for all of his life and for the last 35 years had lived and worked on the dairy in Ballico.  He is survived by his niece and three nephews; numerous great nephews and nieces and great great nephews and nieces. Halverson, Louis - Walnut Creek  
Lou G. Halverson Lou G. Halverson  completed his life on April 15th, 2015 in a home with a gorgeous view over Walnut Creek.   He is survived by his two daughters, Melissa and Christyne Halverson, their mother Michele Halverson, his girlfriend Hua Cordingly, both siblings, Brenda Eckman and Gene Halverson, and his granddaughter, Kenley. He worked 40+ years as an electronics engineer in the bay area. An avid fisherman, cyclist, motorcyclist, and outdoorsey guy.   Services will be Saturday April 25th at 3pm at Hull's Chapel  1139 Saranap Ave Walnut Creek Ca. McKibben, Mary - Pasadena  
Mary Ruth Green McKibben March 31, 1923 - April 17, 2015 Mary Ruth Green McKibben was born on March 31st 1923 in Timpson Texas.  She was the youngest child of Joe John Green and Ruth Blankenship Green.  Mary grew up in Timpson, where she attended the local public schools.  She went on to graduate from the University of Texas at Austin in 1943, and then attended medical school at the University of Texas at Galveston, graduating with her M.D. in June of 1946.  Mary served her internship at the St. Louis, Missouri City Hospital where she met her future husband, J.W. "Mac" McKibben.  They married in 1947.  Mac and Mary moved to San Francisco and then to Texas as they continued their medical training and started a family.  In 1954 Mac and Mary and their two children moved to Modesto, California.  Here Mary practiced anesthesiology for the next 34 years at Memorial Hospital until her retirement in 1988. Mary was an avid traveler and hiker.  She and Mac travelled to many exotic places, including Antarctica and the Far East.  They hiked the base camps of the Himalayas, and climbed Kilimanjaro.  They especially enjoyed hiking in the high Sierras, and Yosemite was always a special place for both of them. Mary's husband Mac died in 2004.  By that time, Mary was already suffering from Alzheimer's disease.    In 2006, Mary was moved to Pasadena, California to be closer to family to facilitate care for her continuously progressing disease.  She died peacefully on April 17, 2015 at the age of 92. Mary is survived by two children and four grandchildren.  Her son Frederick McKibben and daughter-in-law Diane Danis of Pasadena, California, and their children Jeffrey McKibben and Elizabeth McKibben;  her daughter Helen McKibben of Bethesda, Maryland and her children John Rasmussen and Jacob Caffrey.  Graveside Service will be on April 25, 2015 at 1pm at Woodlawn Cemetery in Timpson, Texas.  The McKibben family is being served by Taylor Funeral Home, Timpson, Texas. To send condolences or to sign an online register please visit www.taylorfh.net .  www.cvobituaries.com

Mendenhall, Betty - Oakdale  
Betty Annetta Olsen Mendenhall December 9, 1918 - April 20, 2015 We lost an amazing woman, mother, and grandmother, Betty Annetta Olsen Mendenhall. Betty was born to Roy "Pop" and Bessie Olsen on December 9th, 1918 in Oakland, CA. She joined her beloved son, Jim and husband Ivor in Heaven on April 20th, the same day her 15th great-grandchild was born. Betty grew up in Manteca. After graduating from high school her family moved to Oakdale where Betty worked at the Oakdale creamery owned by her father, Pop, and attended Modesto JC. In June of 1942 she married Ivor and had daughter Janet while Ivor was in the military. After The War they returned to Oakdale and had their son, Jim. They later moved to Manteca where their daughter, Jeanne was born.  In 1958 they moved to San Jose where Betty was a dedicated elementary school teacher for 30 years. They lived there until retirement when they returned to Oakdale. She was an avid reader and was active in AAUW and the women's 9-holer group at the Oakdale Golf and Country Club. She also rejoined the bridge group that she had been a part of in the 1930's. Betty loved life, loved to travel, and always had unconditional love for her family and friends. She is survived by her daughters Janet Mendenhall Schatz, Jeanne Mendenhall Keller (Peter), daughter-in-law Robin, 7 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by all of her family and friends. A memorial for Betty will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, April 25th at the Oakdale Memorial Chapel (830 West F St, Oakdale); a gathering of friends and family will take place following the reception. www.cvobituaries.com

Murphy, Theresa - Salinas  
Theresa Garcia Murphy November 25, 1925 - April 21, 2015 Theresa Garcia Murphy, 89, of Salinas California passed away on April 21, 2015 at Salinas Valley Memorial Hospital. She was born in Ripon, California on November 25, 1925. She started her life in the beautiful San Joaquin Valley that she loved so dearly. She was fond of driving by the many ranches and dairies while enjoying the valley smells. She later moved to Monterey and met her true love David Howard Murphy, a truck driver from Bloomington, Indiana. Together they were blessed with a wonderful family of a son and two daughters. They worked together and bought Tullos Van and Storage, Monterey Peninsula Movers, North County Movers, and Murphy's Movers. They were so proud of their family and hard work. She was very proud of her Portuguese Heritage. She remembered as a child, after her father had passed how the ladies of the S.P.R.S.I. (Sociedade Portuguese Rainha Santa Isabel) helped her family. In 1990-1991 she became the Grand President of the S.P.R.S.I. She was an active member of Brotherhood of Saint Anthony and P.F.S.A. (Portuguese Fraternal Society of America). She was preceded in death by her husband, David Howard Murphy, and her daughter Nancy Sue Murphy Woods.  She is survived by her son Paul (Helen) Anthony Murphy, her daughter Dorothy (Jerry) Blakeman, son-in-law Clifford John Woods, sisters Theodora Garcia and Lina Vierra, eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Visitation will be held Monday, April 27, 2015, from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Struve and Laporte Chapel, 41 W. San Luis Street, Salinas, CA 93901. Rosary will be held Monday, April 27, 2015, 7:00 pm in the Struve and Laporte Chapel. Funeral Mass will be held Tuesday, April 28, 2015, 10:00 am at Sacred Heart Church, 22 Stone St., Salinas, CA 93901. Silveira, Antonio Arnaldo - Ceres  
Antonio Arnaldo Silveira February 18, 1961 April 16, 2015 Mr. Antonio Arnaldo Silveira entered into rest peacefully at his residence surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, April 16, 2015. He was 54 years old and was born in Santo Antão, Topo, São Jorge, Azores. Antonio Arnaldo was 15 years old when he immigrated to the United States on November 20, 1976. Where he met his loving wife in Turlock, CA at a mutual friend's gathering. They married in 1981 and started their family. He milked cows for ten years when he came into this country until he and his wife started their own dairy for 16 years. Mr. Silveira is survived by his Wife- Urbana Sousa Silveira of Ceres, 2 Sons- Antonio Arnaldo Silveira II and his wife Sarah of Ceres, Deanarte Mario Arnaldo Silveira and his fiancée Jillian Wynette Pritchard of Turlock. 2 Daughters- Susana Maria Silveira and her companion Daniel Johnson of Ceres, Adriana Silveira Sousa and her husband Duarte Manuel Sousa of Merced.Three Grandchildren- Scott Daniel Johnson, Daniel Antonio Johnson, and Sage Marcus Silveira. Two Brothers- Carlos Silveira and his wife Judite of Fajã de São João, São Jorge, Azores, Valdemiro Silveira and his wife Lucia of Turlock. Two Sisters- Maria Bernadette Teixeira and her husband Antonio Teixeira of Livingston, and Ermelinda Mendonça and her husband Antonio Mendonça of Delhi. Several Aunts, Nieces, Nephews, Godchildren, Cousins and lots of Friends.  Mr. Silveira is Preceded in Death by his Parents- Manuel and Rosa Silveira, 3 Brothers- Jose Luciano Silveira, Manuel Guilherme Silveira, and Herculano Silveira. One Sister- Filomena Silveira. Antonio Arnaldo Silveira also was a member and parishioner of the Shrine of Our Lady of Miracles, Gustine, Our Lady of Assumption Catholic Church and Sacred Heart Catholic Church, both of Turlock. He was Past President of "Crows Landing Pentecost Association". Was active with Oxon Pulls, Puchada de Bois he was the leader and founder of the Bella Vista Park Oxen Pulls since 1996 to 2004. Crabtree, Irene  
Irene Helen Crabtree Aug 16, 1944 - Apr 11, 2015 Irene Crabtree, 70, was born in South Bend, Indiana to Myron and Theresa Taffee. She attended Holy Cross Elementary School and St. Joseph High School. She attended Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana, where she received her bachelor's and master's degree with honors. Irene married Robert J. Crabtree December 18, 1965. They lived together in Muncie, Connersville, and Terre Haute, Indiana before moving to Modesto in 1970. She was employed by Stanislaus County Department of Education from 1971 to 1988. She then went to work for Modesto City Schools as Supervisor of Education, and then as a principal of Burbank, Enslen, Fremont, and Pearson Elementary Schools. She retired in 2006 with over 40 years in the teaching profession. Irene loved her grandchildren dearly and enjoyed their visits and attending their sports and school activities. Those grateful for having shared her life: her husband, Robert J. Crabtree, daughter Elizabeth (Scott) Stehle - grandchildren Brooke and Megan, Modesto, CA; daughter Karen (Matt) Winblade, grandchildren - Garrett and Kylie, Sioux Falls, SD; father and mother (deceased) Myron and Theresa Taffee; brother John Taffee, Wake Forest, NC; and sister Theresa (Cal) Salyer, Valparaiso, IN. Visitation will be Thursday, April 23rd from 4-7pm, followed by a 7pm Rosary at Franklin & Downs Funeral Home, 1050 McHenry Avenue in Modesto.
