Ackerman, Maryanne - Modesto
MARYANNE SARA ACKERMAN NOV 2, 1947 - DEC 14, 2014 Our beautiful and beloved Maryanne Ackerman died peacefully with her family by her side on Sunday, December 14 at Memorial Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer. She is now singing with the angels in Heaven with no pain and suffering. Her strong Catholic upbringing and faith kept her and the family strong during this difficult struggle. Maryanne was born in Steubenville, Ohio to Howell P. and Sara M. Sanders. Her father was in the Marine Corps and she relocated often in her younger years before his retirement in Charleston, SC.  She loved going to the beach and doing the SC shag dance. She graduated from Bishop England High School in Charleston, SC. She met her husband Robert Louie Ackerman while in high school and they married on December 1, 1965. They had twin daughters Patricia Gage and Susan Ackerman and one son Robert L. Ackerman, Jr. After marriage, she continued to relocate many times with her husband and family until the final move to Oakdale in 1987 from Hershey, PA. Maryanne is survived by her loving husband Robert Louie Ackerman, daughters Patricia (Matt) Gage, Susan Ackerman, son Robert L. Ackerman Jr., sisters Charlotte Hadwin, Peggy (Tommy) Peacock, Kathleen (Danny) Lorang and brother Mark (Jeanette) Sanders. She was blessed with 4 wonderful grandchildren, Chrissy Gage, Megan (Nick) Rossi, Sean (Vyctoria) Gage, Mark Ackerman and a great grandson, Michael Gage. Maryanne worked professionally in the banking industry for 25 plus years before retiring from Washington Mutual in Oakdale in 2004. Maryanne was an active member of the Oakdale Golf and CC and Del Rio Country Club prior to her illness. She was a member of Soroptismist and Y.L.I. of St. Mary's Catholic Church. She thoroughly enjoyed being around people and easily made friends with her bubbling personality and smile.  Her smile and laughter were infectious on people she met. Traveling in their RV and having barbeques around the pool with family were favorite times for Maryanne. She also loved attending sporting events involving her grandchildren. Lakewood Funeral Home is entrusted with funeral arrangements.  There will be a Rosary at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Oakdale on Friday, December 19th at 7PM.
