Blake Kenneth Hennings
November 10, 1949 - January 28, 2014
Blake Kenneth Hennings, 64, passed away in his sleep on January 28, 2014 at his home in Modesto, CA. He is survived by his family: his loving wife of 41 years Robin; two sons, Matthew Hennings (Michelle) and Andrew Hennings; grandchildren Wren Hennings and Tatiana Wallace; siblings, Charles Hennings (Linda), Linda Shark (Keith) and Curtis Hennings (JoAnn); and four nieces and six nephews.
Born November 10, 1949 to Howard Hennings and Eleanor Norby Hennings, Blake embraced life. He graduated from Davis High School in 1968, but would become an honorary Panther of Modesto High, by virtue of friendship. He attended Modesto Junior College where he met Robin Braden, whom he married in 1972. In 1976 after working at his father and uncle's business from the age of 16, he started his own business, Calwater Drilling Co.,with his brother Curtis. With his motto "Digging down deep to stay on top," he worked hard to build a successful business and provide for his family, earning him the nickname "Digger."
He was a devoted husband, proud father and grandfather, and a great friend. He loved his family and many friends, and was loved in return. He was larger than life. It was a true joy to be in his company, to hear his stories, to receive his compassion and goodwill, to laugh with him, and to experience his infectious and uniquely charming sense of humor.
Blake loved living in the Wood Colony area of Stanislaus County and having the pleasure of raising his family in this wonderful community. He did all he could to maintain the integrity of the place he called home for nearly 30 years.
He was a proud member of the following associations: the Old Fishermen's Club (president 1994), Elks Club
, Sportsman of Stanislaus (board member 2013) and the California Groundwater Association.
