Carl Warren Hedstrom Sr.
July 4, 1922-June 8, 2013
Carl Warren Hedstrom Sr. was born on the Fourth of July and entered into rest on June 8, 2013, just shy of his 91st birthday.
Known as "Carl" professionally, "Warren" to family and friends and "Dad/Daddy", "Grandpa", "Great-Grandpa/Great-Papa" to his kids and grandkids, he blessed all who knew him.
He grew up in French Camp, CA as the only child of Carl E. and Elin Hedstrom, where he enjoyed life on his parent's dairy farm. Upon graduation from Stockton High School, he joined the US Navy
and studied engineering at College of the Pacific (now University of the Pacific) and UC Berkeley.
In 1945 he married his sweetheart Ethel Coleman and upon discharge from the Navy they made their home in French Camp where they raised their five children.
Carl Warren went on to pass his California State Civil Engineering license and worked for San Joaquin County as a civil engineer until his retirement.
Warren is pre-deceased by his wife Ethel Hedstrom and his son Arthur Hedstrom. Surviving him are his children, Carl Hedstrom Jr. (Maureen), Nancy Kroon, Ann Rosander (Jim) and Erik Hedstrom (Michelle), along with fourteen grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren. He considered his family to be his greatest blessing and prayed for each one by name every morning.
He enjoyed a personal relationship with Jesus Christ as his savior and Lord and served Him faithfully all the days of his life. As a life-long member of Stockton Covenant Church he served in many different capacities over the years and was active on the Church Council until February of this year.
In life and in death his family and friends honor him as a man of great character, unfailing honesty and faithfulness enveloped in grace and love. Surely goodness and mercy followed him all the days of his life and he will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
Services for Mr. Hedstrom are under the direction of PL Fry & Son Funeral Home, 290 N. Union Road, Manteca. The family will hold a private burial service at Parkview Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to join the celebration of his life at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 15th at Stockton Covenant Church, 1720 Oxford Way, Stockton, CA 95204.
