Chester Lee Davis

Chester Davis, 93 of Modesto, California, peacefully passed away on October 3, 2013 at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Chester was born on March 27, 1920 in Baker Arkansas.
He proudly served his country during WWII
in the South Pacific Theater. He was awarded the Bronze Star
, Purple Heart
and 2 Battle Ribbons.
After his discharge from the Army, Chester met the love of his life Opal (Byrd) and they were married on April 8, 1946. They started life together in Marshall, Arkansas on the homestead where Chester grew up. In the early 1950's Chester and Opal moved to Modesto, California. Chester was a life-long farmer, who enjoyed taking care of his small orchard and vegetable garden. He also enjoyed baseball, a good game of checkers, and especially fishing.
He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Opal R. Davis, his twin sister Esther and six brothers Carl, Clyde, Claude, Corbett, Creighton and Clester.
He is survived by his brother, Walter (Mary) Davis, his four children Jim (La Mona) Davis, Linda (Steve) Mc Mullin, Joe (Sharon) Davis, Judy (Mike) Smith, six grandchildren; Tom Carbary, Jeremy (Amy) Davis, Aaron (Rae) Davis, Jacob (Brooke) Davis, Jason (Dalene) Davis and Jennifer Davis, seven great grandchildren and two great, great grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held Wednesday, October 9 at 1:00 pm at the Ceres Memorial Park, 1801 E. Whitmore Avenue, Ceres, California, followed by a celebration of life at the Ceres Seventh Day Adventist church, 1633 North Central Avenue, Ceres, California.
