Deputy Robert (Bob) Lee Paris, 53, of the Stanislaus Sheriffs Department was killed in the line of duty April 12, 2012 in Modesto, CA.
Bob was born in Tracy, CA, the son of Robert (Bob) Lee Paris, Sr. and Elizabeth Jane Paris.
Bob graduated in 1977 from Tracy Joint Union High School.  He attended Delta Community College before entering paramedic school in 1979.  After graduation Bob was certified as a Mobile Intensive Care Paramedic and worked for Tracy Ambulance and American Medical Response serving the Tracy community.  In 1993 Bob graduated from the Ray Simon Regional Criminal Justice Training Center and joined the Stanislaus Sheriffs Office as a Reserve in 1996 and was sworn in as a full time Deputy Sheriff in 1999.  As a Deputy Sheriff Bob served in Patrol Operations, Court Services, Special Vehicle Off Road Unit/Water Enforcement and most recently the Civil Division.
Bob was an avid outdoorsman spending spring and summer days camping and fishing in the Sierras with family and friends.  In the fall Bob would travel to the Rockies first hunting with his father and friends in Colorado before traveling to Montana where he would serve as a hunting guide.  Last summer Bob fulfilled a life time dream by going on an African safari.  Bob also enjoyed cycling and golfing.  He became a successful taxidermist for his own enjoyment as well as for others.
He is survived by his parents Bob and Jane Paris of Lodi, CA, a daughter Jami Paris and her mother, Janelle Corso of Tracy, CA, a son Bobby Paris of Tracy, CA, a brother Eric Paris and sister in law Kari Henderson Paris of Stockton, CA, a sister Krista Torpey and brother in law Richard (Dick) Torpey of Kennesaw, GA, his nephews Ryan Torpey of Auburn, AL and Colin Torpey and a niece Lauren Torpey of Kennesaw, GA.
Arrangements are under the direction of Franklin and Downs Funeral Home in Modesto, CA.
The funeral services for Deputy Robert (Bob) Paris are scheduled for Friday April 20th at 12:00 PM. The services will be held at Big Valley Grace Community Church located at 4040 Tully Rd in Modesto, CA. There will be a procession from the church to Lakewood Memorial Park located at 900 Santa Fe Avenue in Hughson CA where there will be a graveside service.
