Janice Marie High
Born Aug. 11, 1936 in Modesto, CA and died Jan. 9, 2013 after a valiant battle with cancer. Janice retired eight years ago after teaching and coaching at Sacramento City College for 35 years and Sacramento High School for 11 years. She was preceded in death by her parents, Elmo and Leona High, brother Willis and nephew Scott. She leaves behind her sisters Betty, Joanne and Nancy; nieces and nephews Kathy, Karie, Robin, Shelly, Theresa, Jody and Zach. To all friends, colleagues, students and players a fond farewell.
Remembrances in her name can be made to the American Cancer Society or Holy Cross Sisters, 407 Bertrand Hall St. Mary's Notre Dame, IN 46556.
A visitation will take place on Wed. Jan. 16 from 4-7 p.m. with Rosary Service at 7 p.m. followed by a time of reflection and sharing from 7:30 to 8 p.m. at Nicoletti, Culjis & Herberger Funeral Home 5401 Folsom Blvd. 451-7284. A Funeral Mass will be held on Thurs. Jan. 17 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Ignatius Loyola Parish 3235 Arden Way. 482-9666. Interment at St. Stanislaus Cemetery in Modesto, CA will be on Fri. Jan. 18.

Ms. High was a wonderful teacher - fun and caring. Through the years I enjoyed talking to her - King's Games, Gold River Racquet Club, class reunions. I was a student of hers from Sacramento High - class of 1964. My sincere sympathy goes out to her family.
