Alma Elizabeth Bettencourt

Alma Elizabeth Bettencourt, 89, of Vernalis entered into rest on September 26th at her home with her family by her side.
Alma was born to Walter and Helena DeFraga in Oakland, CA and was raised in San Leandro, CA.  She graduated from Alameda High School in January 1942 and attended Business College. She worked for Peterson Tractor Company in San Leandro. Alma married Edward Bettencourt on August 10, 1952, moved to Sunnyvale, CA and became a Housewife. In 1962 she and Eddie moved to Vernalis. She enjoyed crocheting, crossword puzzles, sewing, puzzles and taking care of and running errands for her boys.
Mrs. Bettencourt leaves behind by her sons, George (Carolyn) Bettencourt and Henry (Irene) Bettencourt of Patterson; grandchildren, JaNae (Brian) Southerland, Randy (Christina) Bettencourt, Christine (Jarod) Lara, Rebecca Bettencourt, Audrey (Ronnie) Chavez, Katie Bettencourt and Christopher (Tracee) Bettencourt and 8 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Edward Bettencourt and her sister Marie DeFraga
A Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 1st from 5:00 - 7:00 pm with a Rosary to follow at 7:00 pm. at Hillview Funeral Chapel in Patterson. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am, Wednesday, October 2nd at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Patterson. Interment to follow at Patterson District Cemetery in Patterson.
