Clotilde Marques Obituary

CLOTILDE 'TILLIE' MARQUES MAR 4, 1925 - OCT 28, 2010 Tillie was born in Los Banos, CA, to Joe V. and Maria Laurence, the youngest of four. At the age of 4, her family moved to Gustine, CA. She attended Gustine schools and graduated from Gustine high school in 1941. She moved back to Los Banos in 1946, where she met and married her husband of 61 yrs. Ernie Marques. In 1951 and again in 1954, Tillie was blessed with the birth of her two sons. In 1953, she and her husband started their own dairy, which they ran together until 1974. Tillie loved cooking and entertaining her family and friends, her card clubs and their clamming trips to Pismo Beach. One of the greatest joys in her life was her sons and her grandchildren. Tillie was a member of the Native Daughters. She is preceded in death by her parents, Joe V. & Marie Laurence, sister Carmen Gouveia, brother Joe Laurence. Tillie is survived by her husband of 61 years Ernest Marques; and her two sons, Ernie (Carol) Marques of Gilroy CA, Larry (Traci) Marques of Los Banos, CA; 4 grandchildren: Lauren (John) Brasil of Turlock, CA, Ryan (Melissa) Marques of Modesto, CA, Ken Marques of San Jose, CA, and Robbie Marques of San Jose; 2 great-grand- daughters: Avery & Jiana Brasil of Turlock, CA. Visitation will be Wed., Nov. 3rd at 5pm Rosary to follow at 7pm Whitehurst Funeral Chapel. Mass will be Thurs. Nov. 4th at 10am St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Los Banos. Burial will follow at San Joaquin Valley Nat'l Cemetery. www.modbee.com/obituaries
