DELILA DEL'' HEDRICK APR 21, 1930 - OCT 16, 2010 On April 21 1930 in Mechanicsville, Pennsylvania the world became a better place when Delila Lee Helsley was born. One of 14 children born to Bessie Sheepz and Samuel Helsley. She remained in Penn until she graduated high school and joined the U.S. Air Force. After boot camp she was assigned duty in what is now known as Travis Air Force Base in Fairfield, California as a nurses assistant. This is where she met, fell in love with, and married her husband of almost 60 years Robert E. Bob'' Hedrick of Modesto, Ca whom was also in the Air Force and stationed at Travis AFB. Together they traveled the world in the Air Force, she now as a devoted wife and mother giving birth to 5 children; all of whom happened to be born in California mostly during different tours of duty. They settled down in Modesto after 25 years of military duty where she remained until her death on October 16, 2010. Besides her family, her greatest passion was her love for bowling, which she and Bob actively took part in their entire marriage on various leagues including her favorite; the Reno travel league where she could pursue her other favorite pasttime; pulling those slots. She is preceded in death by both her parents and all but 2 of her siblings; Betty McElvy of Texas and Jim Helsley of Pennsylvania She is also preceded in death by 2 of her children; 1st born son Steven M Hedrick, and her youngest child, son Alan F Hedrick both of Modesto. She is survived by her loving husband Robert E Hedrick of Modesto whom valiantly stood by her side until her death. And 3 adoring children; daughter Julie (Hedrick) Loeb and grandson Christopher both of Citrus Hights; daughter Robin (Hedrick) Loveall of Riverbank and grandson Patrick R Tosta of Waterford; son Robert E Hedrick, Jr and grandchildren Joshua, Justin, and Jenifer Hedrick all of Lancaster, Ca. and granddaughter Amelia Pimley (Daniel) of Modesto. Also 5 great grandchildren; Elisabeth, Caden, and Hailey Tosta of Modesto and Rachel and Julian Mathewson also of Modesto. Numerous nieces and nephews, their children, and In-laws. There is a huge void in this world now and she will be missed greatly by anyone who knew her. There will be a private burial on October 22 followed by a Celebration of her Life for family and friends from 2 ~ 6pm the same day at the home of Bob and Del in Modesto.
