Dennis J. Luis Sr.

DENNIS J. LUIS SR. SEPT 8, 1934 - OCT 29, 2010 Dennis Luis passed away at his home in Modesto surrounded by his family on Oct. 29, 2010 at the age of 76. Dennis was born on September 8, 1934 in Santa Maria, California to Julius and Christine Luis. Dennis graduated High School in Fremont, CA. After graduation the family moved to Modesto where he met his future wife Margaret Wyrsch. Dennis retired as a truck driver for Western Stone in 1983. Dennis was member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church and a Past President of St. Vincent de Paul society. Dennis enjoyed fishing, the San Francisco Giants and the Oakland Raiders. Dennis is survived by his wife of 54 years Margaret, his daughter Debbie Bice of Modesto, his son Dennis Luis Jr. of Modesto, three grand- children, Chris Bice, Sandra Newburn and Jerek Luis, 8 great-grandchildren, brothers, Harry and Ronald, and sister Noma Watters. Preceded in death by his parents, Julius Luis and Christine Luis, sister Gloria Sanders, and brother David. Visitation will be held at Franklin and Downs Colonial Chapel Nov. 3rd from 4-6 p.m. followed by a rosary at 6 p.m. His mass will be at 11 a.m. Nov. 4 at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church 709 J Street. He will be laid to rest immediately after the mass at St. Stanislaus Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please send memorial donations to either Optimal Hospice Care, 122 W.
