Dorothy Miler Obituary

DOROTHY MILER JUL 21, 1937 - NOV 1, 2010 Dorothy Louise entered into eternal rest surrounded by her loving family on November 1, 2010. She is survived by her husband James, sons and daughters-in-law Lance & Jolisa, Scott & Lola, Jimmy & Lupe, and grandchildren Alexa, Tristan & Gianna Miler. She also leaves behind her sister, Helen Baker, brother-in-law Mike, niece Kelli Mowery and her children Justin & Samantha. Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents Frank and Vernell Turner. Dorothy was born in Colorado Springs on July 21, 1937 and raised in Modesto. She graduated from Downey High School and along with her husband, owned and operated Boyd Miler Rest Home and Miler's Inn Cocktails on McHenry Ave. She retired from Crestwood Manor where she worked in medical records. An avid reader, she enjoyed tackling the most challenging of crossword puzzles and staying up to date on the world's current events. Dorothy was a selfless woman, always doing for others and taking pleasure in doing so. She was a devoted daughter, wife, mother, and grandmother. Her family was her life and she delighted in gathering them at her home where she indulged everyone with her wonderful meals and graciousness. She was thrilled when her grandchildren were born and felt her greatest joy and happiness when she spent time with them. Countless hours were spent at the kitchen table quizzing them on their spelling words and helping them with their homework. She will be most remembered for her loving and giving spirit and generosity of heart. Dorothy wished to be inurned alongside her parents. Her memorial service will be Saturday, November 13 at 10 a.m. Ceres Memorial Park; Father Khoi officiating. A Celebration of Life reception will be held immediately following the ceremony. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to Community Hospice, Modesto. www.modbee.com/obituaries
