Evalyn Oltmanns Obituary

EVALYN ELAM OLTMANNS OCT 14, 1914 - NOV 3, 2010 Evalyn died at the age of 96. One of seven children, she was born in her family's farmhouse near Ceres. She graduated from Ceres schools, Modesto Junior College and a Fresno business college. In 1943, she married Ted Oltmanns, an Army serviceman from Iowa stationed in Lemoore. After WWII, they moved back to her family's farm, raised their children there, and she lived there for most of the rest of her life. She was a homemaker for 15 years, then returned to the work force as a secretary at the Ceres School District, working up to Secretary to the Superintendent. She loved gardening, travel, her family and her home. She is survived by two daughters, Susan Cowan of Oakdale and Jane Drumm of Modesto; two sons, David Oltman of Antioch and Tim Oltman of Ceres; three grandsons; two great- grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, in-laws and friends. A graveside service will be held at 3 p.m. Monday, Nov. 8, at Ceres Memorial Park. Donations can be made to Community Hospice in Modesto or the American Cancer Society. www.modbee.com/obituaries

Your mother is the last of the older generation on Moffett Road to pass away. We have fond memories growing up as neighbors with the Oltmanns and Elams. My best to all of you.
