Gurdev Kaur Obituary

GURDEV KAUR JUL 1907 ~ OCT 2010 Gurdev Kaur, 103, of Livingston, passed away at her home early Sunday morning. She was born in Pakistan, married Rattan Singh, and they moved to India in 1947. Her family were farmers and Gurdev was a faithful wife, mother, and homemaker. A daily task for her was spinning cotton and making clothes and quilts out of the cotton they spun. The family moved to Livingston, California in 1978 after her husband passed away in 1964. As the family grew, Gurdev remained the faithful leader, cooking, maintaining the family, and caring for the grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her mind remained sharp and her health was excellent until a recent illness which took her life. She will be fondly remembered and greatly missed. Gurdev was preceded in death by her loving husband Rattan Singh, by four of her children, and by one grandchild. She is survived by three children: Gurmit K. Johal of Livingston, Gurmit S. Sangha of Livingston, Amarjit K. Johal of Patterson, and primary caretaker, Daughter-in-law Palo K Sangha, 20 grandchildren, and 35 great grandchildren. Visitation for Gurdev will be at Allen Mortuary on Friday, Oct. 29th from 4-7 pm. A Funeral Service will be on Saturday, Oct. 30th, 12-2pm with cremation to follow at Allen Mortuary. After the service there will be a service at the Guru Nanak Sikh Temple on B Street in Livingston. Please leave memories and condolences at www.allenmortuary.com.
