Harold Eaton Obituary

HAROLD "BUGS" EATON 1927 ~ 2010 Harold Bugs Eaton passed away on Nov. 5, 2010 from complications from Parkinson's disease. Bugs was born in 1927 in Quinton, OK, but lived his adult life in Modesto, CA. He attended school in the small town of Quinton and was a star on the high school football team. After high school, Bugs joined the Navy and was stationed at Treasure Island in the heart of San Francisco. In 1946, Bugs found his high school sweetheart, Elizabeth Jo, living in Modesto and also found a job with the Modesto Irrigation District. He was an excellent artist and electrical engineer and worked with the MID for 36 years. He drew the Don Pedro Dam Electrical System and many other important electrical systems for the MID. He was an avid sportsman and a member of Sportsmen of Stanislaus Club and also the Old Fishermen's Club. Bugs loved sports and played softball on the MID team for many years, including the All Stars and after retiring, played on the 55 and older softball team until he could not run the bases at age 72. Bugs also enjoyed spending time on the ranch with daughter and son-in-law and retired from this activity after being bucked off Calvin. Bugs and Elizabeth Jo Eaton were married for 65 years and Bugs is survived by Elizabeth. Bugs has two daughters, Terri Eaton Sepuvelda of Rexburg, ID, and her husband Bruce, and Deborah Eaton Beck of San Luis Obispo, CA, and her husband Steven. Bugs also had two grandchildren, Owen Beck and Dana Beck. Bugs was preceded in death by his parents, Antlee and Floyd Eaton and his loving grandson Nels Beck. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Jack's Helping Hand Foundation, P.O. Box 14718, San Luis Obispo, CA 93406. This foundation helps children in need with prosthetics; or Bristol Hospice, of Merced, 1170 West Olive Ave., Ste B, Merced, CA 95348, for al their help and support. Graveside service will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 9th at 11:30 a.m. at Lakewood Memorial Park, Mausoleum Pavilion, 900 Santa Fe Ave., Hughson, CA. www.modbee.com/obituaries
