Henry Davis Obituary

HENRY (HANK) POWELL DAVIS OCT 20,1938 - SEP 24, 2010 Hank passed away at the Alexander Cohen Hospice House in Hughson, Ca. at the age of 71, with his wife by his side. Hank was born in Orange, Ca. to Edna Bly and Anthony Henry Davis. He graduated from Redlands High school. He married his high school sweetheart Ruth Castellanos, they moved to Gustine in 1963, where he worked on the San Luis Aqueduct. He graduated from Gavilan College and was a Gustine City police officer from 1968 to 1976, and retired truck driver after leaving the police dept. Hank was a Modesto Bee distributer from 1972 to 1982 in Gustine and Newman. He was also a Boy Scout Leader of Troup 84, peewee baseball coach, president of the Newman Swamp Rats and the Sunbeam Alpine Car Club. Hank was a fan of the Forty Niners and SF Giants, he loved to travel, visiting Europe twice. Hank is survived by his wife of 53 years, Ruth; by his sons, Mike (Kari) of Sunnyvale, John (Joanne) of Newman, Rodger (Stacy) of Modesto, Mark of Hayward, and Keith of Gustine; and daughter Susan Carr (Andrew) of Washington state; seven grandchildren, Jody Jessica, Stephanie, Zakary, Appolo, Eric and Ella; and five great grandchildren. He is also survived by brothers, Robert Bly, Merlin Davis (Kelly); sisters, Pat Craig and Kay Molotte. Preceded in death by his Mother. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Diabetes Association, American Heart Association or the Alexander Cohen Hospice. A visitation will be held from 8:30-10:00am, Friday, October 1st followed by a Rosary/Funeral Mass at 10:00am at the Shrine of Our Lady of Miracles in Gustine. Interment to follow at Sunnyside Cemetery in Stevinson. www.modbee.com/obituaries
