John E. Smith

69, of Modesto passed away. John was born in Urbana, Ohio to John & Isabel Smith. He was preceded in death by his father and two nephews. John is survived by his Mother: Isabel Smith. Children: Jeremy Smith and wife Lori, Jamie Van Laar and husband Dustin and Grandchildren. Sister: Judy Bailey and family in Ohio.
John was a veteran of the National Guard, a Mason and a member of The Old Fisherman's Club. After 36 years, he retired from AT&T and started his own Pilot Car business. He enjoyed driving and sightseeing. He was an avid hunter and outdoorsman. John enjoyed being around his friends and family.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, December 28th at 10am at the Oakdale Memorial Chapel, 830 West F Street in Oakdale, CA.
