Dr. Leon L. Allen
April 9, 1926 - March 15, 2014
Dr. Leon L. Allen passed away Saturday, March 15 in Jamestown California. He was the oldest son of Harry L. and Vivian M. Allen of Union, New Jersey. He was born in North Arlington, New Jersey April 9, 1926. He was a medic in the Army during WWII serving on the USS Milne Hospital ship. After honorable discharge in 1946 he attended Washington Missionary College and graduated a Math major. He attended Loma Linda University and graduated with a doctorate in medicine in 1954. He was married his to his beloved wife Opal Johnson in 1953 they were married for 59 years. He practiced General Medicine in Ohio until he took a residency at Ohio State University in Anesthesia and moved to Merced, California. He was at Emanuel and Community Hospitals in Turlock from 1967 until he retired in 1986. He was Director of Anesthesia and was also for a time Chief of Staff at Emanuel Hospital. During retirement he enjoyed woodworking and golfing. He was an active member of the Turlock Seventh-day Adventist church.
He is survived by 1 brother, Clifton, 3 sons Leon, David and Dale, 1 granddaughter Cristy, 4 grandsons Richard, Stanley, Samuel, and Thomas, 2 great grandsons, Troy and Hudson.
His memorial service will be at the Turlock Seventh-day Adventist church at 3 PM on Saturday, March 22 all are welcome. Viewing at Turlock Funeral Home Saturday, March 22, 10am to 1:30pm.
