Levi Harvey Bowman

LEVI HARVEY BOWMAN JAN 5, 1929 - NOV 4, 2010 Levi Harvey Bowman was born in Winston-Salem, North Carolina to Joel and Nancy (Beckner) Bowman. He attended Clemmons School and completed the 8th grade. Dad answered the call to follow Christ, his Savior at the age of 14, becoming a member of the Old German Baptist Brethren Church. He was united in marriage with Annie Mary Jamison on August 17,1947. To this union was born four children: Arthur, Larry, Dale, and Mary Lou. They enjoyed 63 years of marriage. This union was broken when Dad passed away on November 4, 2010 at Doctors Medical Center in Modesto, California, at the age of 81. Dad went to be with the Lord while his family was reading to him from Psalms 19. Dad was called to the deacon's office in 1943 and then to the ministry in 1960. He was ordained to the office of Elder in 1971. He willingly and joyfully served his Lord in this capacity. Dad was a farmer all of his life. He operated a dairy and ran a bottled milk route in North Carolina. He then moved his family to California in January, 1963. He farmed almonds the rest of his life. He was a charter grower of the Salida Hulling Assoc. and served as a director on the board for many years. In his last years, he enjoyed gardening, sharing the fruits of his labors with many friends and neighbors. Dad is survived by his loving and faithful wife, Annie, three children; Arthur (Annette), Dale (Marcia), Mary Lou (Mark), all of Modesto;eight grandsons, and 8 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by two brothers, Leslie and Lloyd, one sister , Ruby Jamison, all of Modesto and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one son, Larry, his parents, and one sister-in-law, Ruth Bowman.
