Maida Sawyer Obituary

MAIDA SAWYER APR 18, 1907 - OCT 4, 2010 Born in Ione, California, daughter of William and Cloudy Strong. The youngest of three sisters, two of which preceded her in death. Graduate of College of Pacific where she met her late husband, Wesley N. Sawyer. After marriage she taught school at Wilson School in Modesto and in 1947 she and her husband returned to the Diamond S Ranch in Waterford where she lived the remainder of her life. She leaves her son, Tom H. Sawyer (Linda), four grandsons, Wes (Susan), Bruce (Jeanette), Chris (Agnes) and Michael (Anne), and nine great grandchildren. Services will be held on Saturday, Oct. 9th at 2:00 p.m. at Franklin & Downs-Colonial Chapel, 704 12th St., Modesto. Sawyer family, Maida was soooo fun when I would walk my class down to the dairy for a fieldtrip. She always had ice cream bars waiting. So many good memories with the Sawyer family...Hugs to all of you! Karen Rossi
