MANUEL JOSEPH MACHADO, SR. JUN 20, 1922 - OCT 6, 2010 Manuel Joseph Machado, Sr., 88, passed away peacefully at home in Ripon on October 6, 2010. He was born in Modesto, CA on June 20, 1922 to Maria and Manuel Machado, who were born in the Azores. Manuel was a very hardworking person. He was a truck driver by profession and he loved the outdoors. He was an avid gardener and could be found tending his vegetable garden every day. Fishing was his passion, especially deep sea fishing, and he always shared his catch with family and friends. He is preceded in death by his sisters, Mary Hoisignton, Trinity Amador, and Rose Bonta. Manuel is survived by his children, Marilyn Cossey, Oakland; Manuel Machado, Ripon, Marlene Fultz, Ripon, Michael Machado, Modesto, and Michelle Anderson, Bethel Island; and by his seven grandchildren, Matthew Machado, Modesto, Monica Machado, Oakland, Laura O'Leary, Oregon, Michael Machado, Modesto, Kelly Machado, Washington, Melissa Ballard, Ripon, and Heather Wiechert, Santa Clara; and by his nine great grandchildren. In his loving memory, donations may be made to Bethany Home, Ripon, CA. A Rosary and Mass will be held at 12:00 noon on Friday, October 15, 2010 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Escalon followed by the burial at St. John's Cemetery, Escalon.
