Naomi Schipper Obituary

NAOMI MARIE HUBLER SCHIPPER JAN 5, 1928 - OCT 18, 2010 Naomi is now at home with her Lord after her struggle with cancer. She was born in Medford, Oregon where she met her beloved husband Skip at the end of WWII. They moved to Modesto with three small children in 1953 and a fourth son was born in 1955. Naomi and Skip raised their family with the Lord guiding their path. Family was everything to Naomi and she deeply loved each child, grandchild and great-grandchild. Nothing was more special than holiday gatherings with extended family and everyone always looked forward to visiting Nana's. This sense of family extended to the Trinity United Presbyterian Church in which she was an active participant in the church community singing in the choir, supporting others as a deacon and leading the Stroke Group. She was a giving soul to all who came in contact with her. Naomi went back to school after her sons had grown, and worked as a Licensed Vocational Nurse for many years, retiring from Doctors Hospital in 1984. She survived by her sister Elberta Burnett, sons Jack (Joyce) of Petaluma, Douglas (Marcia) of Ceres and David (Nora) and Dennis of Modesto, seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She is pre-deceased by her husband Skip and grandson Aaron. A viewing will be held Thursday, October 21, 2010 from 9-11 AM at Salas Brothers Funeral Chapel 419 Scenic Drive, Modesto. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, November 7, 2010 at 2:00 pm at the Trinity United Presbyterian Church, 1600 Carver Rd., Modesto. The interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Stephen Ministry at Trinity United Presbyterian Church in memory of Naomi Schipper. www.modbee.com/obituaries

My love and prayers go out to the family but Naomi is in a better place now. She was always the light in the neighborhood as I was growing up (and also had the neighborhood pool :)many good times spent in her backyard) She will always be remembered fondly and with much love.

With the lightest touch and the firmest hand you were Mother to all who crossed your path and once crossed they were always in your heart. It was with grace and dignity that you moved through life and more, you bid us not cry as your joy drew near and you shed your tire coat. For you have left us the greatest gift, a Mothers Love. Paul, Karen and Lia Forakis

With the lightest touch and the firmest hand, you were Mother to so many who crossed you path and in crossing, never left your heart. It was with great dignity and grace that you moved through life and bid us farewell, as your time came close, not to cry, for joy was coming as you shed this tired coat and have left us with the greatest of gifts, a Mothers Love.
