NORMA LEE STOUTAMIRE NOV 27, 1932 - NOV 7, 2010 Norma Lee Stoutamire departed this life on Sunday, November 7, 2010 in Tijuana, Mexico, after a rigorous battle with cancer. She was born on November 27, 1932, in the Lick Run area of Botetourt County, Virginia, a daughter of the late Mack Bayne Sr. and Alma Persinger Bayne. She was a graduate of Eagle Rock High School, Eagle Rock, Virginia. Norma received a degree in massage therapy at age 72 from Dabney Lancaster Community College and opened a business, The Power of Touch. Among her other endeavors, she was a hotel owner and restaurant manager, a successful caterer and event organizer at Great Meadow, Virginia. Her motto was "Get a life, then pursue it with all your time and energy. She was a member of The Funstrummers Ukulele Band, The Camellia Society of Modesto and the MICL program of MJC. She described herself as ornery, bossy, opinionated and sharp tongued''. She was a woman who loved life, always willing to help or volunteer. Her cancer humor'' started the day of her surgery when she used a marking pen to print Adios Amigas'' across her breast, unbeknownst to hospital personnel until she was prepped for surgery. After losing her hair to chemo, she would decorate her shiny dome with temporary tattoos of fairys dancing, or a large figure 8'' to give fellow cancer patients something to laugh about while receiving their chemo IV's. She was predeceased by her previous husbands, Sam Kenton and Charles Worman, and eight of nine siblings except Mack Bayne Jr. of Covington, Virginia. She is also survived by her husband, Don Stoutamire of Modesto, Calif.; daughters, Robyn Tinsley, Fredericksburg, Virginia, and Naja Caudill, Haymarket, Virginia; son Victor Siegel, Encino, Calif.; three step- daughters, Leslie Dunn, Campbell, Calif.; Kathleen Woods, Lynnwood, Washington; Karen Weatherly, Modesto, Calif.; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. A celebration of her life will be held at Modesto Junior College West Campus in the MICL building (Bldg 6000 (Bldg 17 on west campus map)) on Friday, December 10th from 2-4:30 pm. Donations can be made in her name to Community Hospice of Modesto.
