Roy Charles Suva

ROY CHARLES SUVA APR 1, 1949 - OCT 27, 2010 Roy was born in the Czech community of Prague, OK, April 1, 1949. At the age of seven, the family moved to Ceres, CA. Roy grew up there and graduated from Ceres High School. In 1968, he joined the Navy and during the Viet Nam War served as a Corpsman at Oak Knoll Naval Hospital in Oakland, CA. He began his life long career in the medical field. He became a Respiratory Therapist, working in managerial positions for Tenet Cura-Care in Washington and California. In his later years he worked in supervisorial positions for Doctor's Hospitals in Manteca and Modesto. Roy was an avid sports enthusiast, especially for his 'Oakland Raiders.' He was also a war history buff. He was a textbook on those subjects. He loved gun collecting, fishing, and motorcycles. In juxtaposition, he was a romanticist, enjoying historical novels. He was an excellent cook, as well as a food critic. Most of all, he was a voracious reader of anything. He leaves behind his sister Carlene; brother Gerald; nieces Heather, Taylor, Connie, Jodie; nephews, Nick, Donald E; and stepchildren, Monica and Phil. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Anna; brothers, Donald R. (May 2010) and Eugene. To honor his life and love of animals, the family asks that contributions in his memory be made to the local chapter Humane Society.(humanestanislaus.org) A celebration of Roy's life will be held at his sister's home at 1409 Desert Willow Lane, Modesto, CA, from 2 to 6 p.m., Saturday, November 6, 2010.
