Vurney King Obituary

VURNEY KING FEB 7, 1924 - OCT 29, 2010 Vurney was born on Feb. 7, 1924 in Ringling Oklahoma. He was received by his Savior on Oct. 29, 2010 in Modesto California. At the age of 19 he joined the Army and was engaged in 4 major battles in WWII, including: D-Day, The Battle of the Bulge and was in Bastogne. He was honorably discharged with 4 Bronze Stars and other awards and ribbons on Jan. 7, 1946. He later moved to Waterford, California where he raised his family and lived for over 50 years. He and his wife Beatrice were married for 55 years when Beatrice left him to be united with Jesus. Together they had 5 children: Virginia, Jerry, Ilene, Mike and Peggy. They were blessed with numerous Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren. He attended the Assembly of God Church. Vurney had many friends and was always a good neighbor. He will be dearly missed. Graveside Services will be held at Lakewood Memorial Park and Funeral Home, on Thursday Nov. 4, 2010 at 10:00 AM. www.modbee.com/obituaries www.lakewoodhughson.com
