WILLIAM R. JEFFERS JAN 27, 1931 - NOV 14, 2010 Bill was born January 27, 1931 in Welty, Oklahoma and died November 14, 2010 at Memorial Hospital in Modesto. Cause of death was extensive cancer. He leaves sons, Bill Jr. (Vicki) of Manteca, Mike (Martha) of Oakdale; daughter Cynthia Braun (Bruce) of Modesto; 4 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; brother Ron of Fair Oaks, and sister Muriel Hill of Oakdale. He also leaves his companion Lavon Oliver. He was predeceased by wife Martha. Bill came from Oklahoma at age 6 with his parents and grandfather. He graduated from Oakdale High School in 1949 and Modesto J.C. 1951, where he excelled at basketball. He served 3 years in the U.S. Army attaining rank of 1st Lt. He owned the Oakdale Credit Bureau 30+ years until retirement. He was very active in local civic clubs and activities. He served in various positions, including president of the Lions Club and also was very active in Oakdale Sportmen's Club, where he served as president and was treasurer 33 years. He is well know statewide for his trap shooting expertise. After retirement he enjoyed golf and traveling by automobile to visit friends and to see other states. Bill was very caring and helped many over the years. He was one who could be counted on for assistance when and where needed. Patience was a virtue of his. Services will be held on Saturday, Nov. 20th at 10 a.m. at the Oakdale Sportmen's Club. As a brother no one could ask for anyone better. Bill was always,always there. No matter. I will miss him greatly, but I will carry wonderful memories of him in my mind and heart all the rest of my days. I am so grateful I was blessed to have Bill as my brother all these years. I wish everyone could experience a brother like Bill.

Bill Jeffers will be sadly missed by all of us. It was a privilege to be able to visit with him these last few years and spend time with he and Lavon on their Montana trip. Our children, Angie and Brad and their children wish to send our prayers and sympathy to all his family.

Bill was my friend for thirty seven years. We shot on the same trap team for several years. We golfed together in Ca and Nevada. He was a great guy, the kind of person you could count on if you needed help. I’ll miss him. May God bless and comfort Mike, Cindy and the family.
