Earle D. Glick

Earle Daniel Glick, 104, of Modesto, California, passed away on Friday, March 7, 2014.
Earle was born to the late David and Ida (Fultz) Glick on July 3, 1909, in Fruita, Colorado. After a few brief moves around the western states, his family settled in the small town of Empire, California during the mid-1920's. Earle was a graduate of Modesto High School, Class of 1928. In 1931 He married the late Ina Marie Shively, also from Empire. They have 3 children together. As a young dairyman and father during the Great Depression era, Earle constructed a mud-brick home for his family - which still stands today. Earle loved the outdoors and enjoyed his occupation as a farmer. He was a dairyman for many years, raised turkeys for 30+ years and farmed peaches. Widowed by Marie in 1971 Earle took up square-dancing and ballroom dancing (one of his favorite pastimes) which he would enjoy for the next 40 years of his life. Earle married the late Dorothy Wynne in 1977, semi-retired in 1978 and enjoyed travel across many continents. Widowed by Dorothy in 1982, he continued to be involved in farming, dancing and travel. He was proud to be a centenarian (100+ years of age) and to have worked his land for 75+ years.
Earle is survived by his three children Don Glick, Ruby Ashley and Earleen Cadruvi, four grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held at Eaton Family Funeral Home in Modesto on Friday, March 14, 2014 from 5:00 - 8:00pm. Funeral service will be held at Church of the Brethren in Empire on Saturday, March 15, 2014 at 10:00am. Burial will follow at Lakewood Memorial Park.
