Karl von Spreckelsen

Karl Frederick von Spreckelsen, 69, of Salida, California, died Wednesday June 4, 2014.
He was born to the late John H. von Spreckelsen and Rose Edwards (Hartman), July 31, 1944 in Indianapolis, IN.  Karl graduated from Purdue University with a Bachelor of Sciences Degree in Electrical Engineering Technology.  He was married to Ritta S. von Spreckelsen.
Karl is survived by five children: Heidi Raxon, Andrea Reilly, Lori Reposa, Jodi von Spreckelsen and David Rice.   He is also survived by his sister Carole Ferris, nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. 
Early in Karl's career he began working in sales with high technology companies which led him to an eight year executive management position with Intel and later a fourteen year executive management position with Sequent Computer. 
Karl was an active member of The Doctor's Behavioral Health Center Advisory Board of Stanislaus County, The County of Stanislaus Behavioral Health and Recovery Services, The Mental Health Board in four subcommittees, Sons in Retirement (SIRS) Branch 103 and gesellschaft der pfingsthöge der von spreckelsen. 
Karl was a beloved husband, a proud father and grandfather.  He was an ardent bowler, a passionate San Francisco Giants and 49ers fan, enjoyed playing cards with his wife, brother-in-law and sister-in-law and loved spending time with his three dogs and two cats.    
A visitation  will be held on Sunday,  June 8, 2014 from 4:00p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a rosary beginning at 6:00 PM at McHenry Chapel of Franklin & Downs.  Service will be held on June 9, 2014 starting at 11:00 a.m. at McHenry Chapel of Franklin & Downs, 1050 McHenry Avenue, Modesto, CA 95350.  Immediately following the service, Karl will be interred at the Acacia Cemetery, 801 Scenic Avenue, Modesto, CA 95350.  Reception to follow at the Elks Local Lodge, 1282 at 645 Charity Way, Modesto, CA 95356-9283.
