Irene Theresa Hopfensperger
May 30, 1926 - Jun 23, 2014
Irene Theresa Hopfensperger passed away on June 23, 2014 in Modesto at the age of 88.  Irene was born on May 30, 1926 in Appleton, WI to Thomas & Coletta Dorsey.  She moved to Modesto in 1956.  In 1991 Irene moved to Winneconne, WI where she lived until moving to Whitehouse, TX.  She then returned to Modesto in 2007.
Irene was born and raised a "Wisconsin girl" and always had a special bond with her sisters.  She was a compassionate caretaker whenever they or their families were in need.  Irene was a skilled seamstress in her younger years, and was always an avid reader. She worked several years at Montgomery Wards where she made many treasured friends. Irene was also a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church. 
Irene leaves behind her children: Patricia Engelman of Sacramento, Steven Hopfensperger of Ceres, Jesse Gill (Tim) of Whitehouse, TX and Diane M. Stewart (Chuck) of Modesto; her grandchildren: Dana Heese (Brian), Jason Semone (Kristin), Corey Shafer (Todd), Christopher Gill (Holli), Sarah Gill, Misty Bays, Jill Rhodes (John) and Michael Stewart, along with 6 great grandchildren and her brother, Robert Dorsey (Carol) of Louisiana.  Irene is preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Edgar H. Hopfensperger, three brothers and six sisters.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Franklin & Downs Funeral Home.  A memorial service and rosary are scheduled for Monday, July 7th at 1:00 PM at Franklin & Downs McHenry Chapel.   Committal will follow the service at Lakewood Memorial Park.  In lieu of flowers, donations in Irene's name may be made to Community Hospice or
