Alvis Aubrey Tomlinson

Alvis passed away at Doctor's Hospital on June 25, 2014 of natural causes. He was born to Emerson and Mary Tomlinson in Harness, Arkansas. Al served in WWII in the Pacific. He retired from the Naval Reserves in 1983. He married Jonnie M. Wilson in 1946. He lived in Watsonville for many years and raised his family there. He worked for Pajaro Valley School District and owned a restaurant in Manhattan, Kansas.
He is survived by his wife, Jonnie Tomlinson, five children, Larry (Pam) of Gustine, Pastor Dwight (Gayle) of Newport Beach, David (Laquete) of Tracy, Barabara (Terry) of Springcreek, NV and Rick (Jessica) Klamath Falls, OR. 18 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, brothers James and Guy Tomlinson and sister Faye Lynn. Preceded in death by his parents, brother Haskell, sisters Marie Treat and Olivia Johnston, one grandson Benjamin Boone.
Alvis loved deep sea fishing and hunting. He loved being a grandpa and playing "Chicken Foot" with his grandchildren. He loved to play dominoes with friends and family. He loved his church family dearly they were so good to him.   
Viewing on Sunday, July 6, 4-7pm at Salas Brothers Funeral Home. Services will be held on Monday, July 7, 2014 at 7pm at Mountain View Baptist Church, Pastor John Simmons, Officiating, 1516 Carver Rd., Modesto. Graveside service on Tuesday, July 8, 2014, 12:30pm at San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery, Santa Nella, California. In lieu of flowers please make donations to Mountain View Baptist Church.
