OPHELIA BEATRICE PETERSON
JANUARY 8, 1921 - JULY 12, 2014
Ophelia Beatrice Peterson, age 93 went home to be with the Lord on July 12, 2014. 
Ophelia will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband of 47 years, Robert Peterson, in the Los Banos Cemetery.
Ophelia will be remembered by her children, Mary (Sonny) Matthews of N. Richland Hills, TX, Patricia (Jack) Stein of Patterson, CA, Beatrice Kelley of Steetman, TX, Ronald (Sandy) Jones of Duluth, GA, Joy Jones of Anaheim, CA, Linda Taylor of Batesville, IN, Darrell (Judy) Jones of Waldorf, MD, Terri (Steve) Lorenz of Manteca, CA, Marie (Dan) Blake of Manteca, CA, Robert (Robin) Peterson Jr. of San Lorenzo, CA, Susan McCarter of Sacramento, CA, and numerous extended family, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. She will be missed by many others.
Ophelia was generous and loving in spirit. She was born on January 8, 1921, in Murray County, Oklahoma to Earve Clyde Higgins and Dora Jane Nantz Higgins where she was raised on a farm with her ten brothers and sisters.
"Bea" as she was known to all who knew and loved her, had many careers in her life, she worked on the family farm and during WWII she worked in the ship yards as a riveter "Rosie The Riveter" supporting our troops, she also owned Bea's Café in Visalia, CA where she was widely know for her wonderful cooking. Her most loved position in life was being a loving wife, mother and grandmother.
In her later years, her and Bob traveled many roads enjoying camping and fishing trips with their family. When at home her passion was her lavish vegetable and flower gardens, which she shared generously with her neighbors and many friends.
Bea had a big heart and was loving and kind to everyone she met, always finishing her visits with "God Bless You".  If you were blessed enough to sit down at their table, you were treated to the most delicious home cooked meal followed by "your" favorite desserts.
Ophelia was a long time resident of Los Banos, with a span of many years as a member of United Methodist Church, and The Grange.
Bea will be missed by those who knew her and cherished by her family.
Services will be officiated by Pastor Jim Garrison of United Methodist Church of Los Banos.
Services will be held at Whitehurst Funeral Chapel 1840 S.Center Ave, Los Banos, on Wednesday, July 16, 2014.  Visitation will begin at 8:30 and services at 10:00 a.m..  Burial will follow at the Los Banos District Cemetery.
