John (Johnny) was born to Manuel and Rosa Quaresma in Madera, CA. He moved to Modesto as a young child. He attended Hart School and graduated from Modesto High. John married Bernice Robinson in 1936. They were married 61 years and raised two children.
John began his career at Modesto Hardware. In the 1940's he opened the Tradeway Market grocery. During the 1950's he became a professional home builder and was known for his "Quaresma Quality Homes". He served as Chairman of the California Building Industry Association and was a past President of the National Association of Home Builders, a title he was very proud of.
John was a past member of the Del Rio Country Club and the Elks Club. He enjoyed golf, photography, gardening and travel. He especially loved Waikiki where he spent many winters.
In 2001 John married Mary Neufeld and they spent many happy years together. They enjoyed spending time with their grandchildren and their family.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Neufeld Quaresma; his son Douglas (JoAnn) Quaresma; stepchildren Patricia Harp and Harold (Diane) Neufeld; grandchildren Joni, Patti, Kathi, Michelle and Sean; thirteen great grandchildren; and seven great great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Bernice Quaresma; daughter Margie Eidschun and siblings Manuel, Frank, Eugene and Marie Quaresma.
There will be no service at the request of the deceased.
