George Eugene Taliaferro
January 25, 1935 - August 18, 2013
George died Sunday August 18, 2013, at the age of 78, after suffering from a long illness. He was born on January 25, 1935, in Oklahoma City, OK. After high school, he joined and served 4yrs in the US Navy as a hospital corpsman. Part of his service was in southern California, where he met and married Sylvia, the love of his life for 58 yrs. George received an AA in law enforcement, and worked for the Calif. Dept. of Corrections for 30 yrs.
George had many interests and hobbies over the years. The latest was being involved and performing in western re-enactments, which he truly enjoyed. George was a member of the Church of Christ in Oakdale, for many years.
George is survived by his wife Sylvia; daughter and son-in-law, Virginia and Jeff Phinney, of Oakdale; sons, Mike Taliaferro of Manteca, Daniel Taliaferro, Jon Taliaferro; and daughter Susan Taliaferro, all of Oakdale. He is also survived by his 99 yr old mother, Grace Taliaferro of Lawton, OK., and sisters, Dorothy Bollenbaugh of Michigan, and Betty Snow of Lawton, OK., and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father Bard Taliaferro, and sister Bonnie Minors.
Services will be held at 10:00 PM, Tuesday, August 27, 2013, at the Oakdale Memorial Chapel in Oakdale. Visitation is Monday August 26, 2013, from 4:00-8:00 PM.
