Ira Hook life-long resident of Hughson, CA passed away Sunday, August 25th, 2013 in his home surrounded by his closest family and watching his favorite team the Giants play baseball. Ira was a Korean War Veteran who served as a Private First Class in the Company B 32nd Infantry Regiment of the US Army. He was honorably discharged with a Bronze Service Star and Purple Heart. Ira was an active participant in the local VA and Korean War Veteran's Association. Ira returned to Hughson after the war and was one of the first employees at Gallo Glass Plant where he worked for 33 years as a glass blower. In his spare time he fixed up classic cars and traveled with his family. After retirement, Ira enjoyed spending his leisure time visiting local garages to visit other mechanics, reading, and fishing. Ira was a yearly participant in the Topaz Lake Fishing Derby, last year receiving the honor of being the longest standing participant. Ira is preceded in death by his wife Darlene Hook, son, Benton Hook, and grandson, Jeromy Hook. Ira is survived by his daughter, Lorrie Hook of Hughson, CA, granddaughter, Allison Jeffery of Turlock, CA, sister, Johnnie C. Nelson of North Fork, CA, and two great granddaughters. Services for Ira Hook will be held at Lakewood Funeral Home in Hughson, in the Riverside Chapel, on Tuesday, Sept. 3rd. Visitation from 12-2pm followed by a chapel service at 2:00pm.
