On October 31, 2013, Abbpetty "Alfie" Johnson, 80, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded with loved ones.  He was born on January 26, 1933 to Douglas and Alberta Johnson in Eufala, Alabama.  He leaves behind his wife, Marylin Johnson of Oakdale, his loving daughters Arlene Bolton of Atlanta, Georgia, and Jessica Johnson of Modesto, California. He will also be missed by his 2 grandsons, 3 great-grandchildren, and his brothers Wyatt Johnson, and Douglas Johnson Jr.  Alfie proudly served in the US Army from November of 1952  -  June of 1972 as a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne Division, serving in both Korea and Vietnam.  By the time he retired as a Sergeant First Class he was a multiple medal honoree, including a Presidential Unit Citation, the Vietnam Gallantry Cross, and the Bronze Star for heroic service, twice.  After retirement from the military at age 39 he worked at Yosemite Jr. College District for 20 + years as part of the Regional Criminal Justice Center.  There are quite a few of the police officers still serving who were instructed by him as they went through the academy.  Upon the closing of the Modesto Criminal Justice Center went to work as the Director of Safety and Security for the college district, from which he eventually retired.  He was also active in service organizations, such as the Exchange Club of Modesto, and was a driving force in the charitable event, "Take a Kid Fishing."  Alfie will be missed, but never forgotten.
