JAN. 13, 1924 - MAY 10, 2014 and OCT. 18, 1918 - OCT. 23, 2013
Connie Ellen (Holdaway) Lipscomb was born to Henry and Nannie Holdaway in Conran, Missouri on a Sunday, January 13, 1924… and that is where Connie's story began. Harold Leonard Lipscomb was born to Joseph and Beuna Lipscomb on a Friday, October 18, 1918.
Connie and Harold met in Missouri; he romantically courted her and they were married shortly after the bombing of Pearl Harbor. They married on December 21, 1941 and then Harold was sent to serve our country in the U.S. Army; where he earned a Purple Heart for his bravery. Connie and her sister Emma spent their time during the war building B-24 Bombers. Connie really was "Rosie the Riveter" as her job was to install rivets.
Later in life Connie and Harold moved to California's central valley and had a daughter, Bernice. Harold worked as a gravel truck driver and retired at the age of 62. Connie worked as a supply technician at Memorial Hospital in Ceres and retired after 23 years. Together they enjoyed traveling in their 5th wheel to many different places but really loved vacationing in the Mojave Desert.
Both Connie and Harold were preceded in death by their daughter, Bernice Lipscomb Hartlett, and Connie was preceded in death by her husband of 71 years, Harold Lipscomb
Services to be private; remembrances in Connie's name can be made to Community Hospice of Modesto.
