STEPHEN PAUL BALTZ ~Stephen Paul Baltz, age 71, of Grand Lake, Colo., went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, April 1, 2014 at Banner Good Samaritan Medical Center in Phoenix, Ariz. After going into cardiac arrest on March 23, 2014, he never regained consciousness. ~Born in Los Angeles, Calif., Steve spent his early years working as a title officer and then in banking. In 1975, he and his wife Martha moved to Colorado so they could do more snow skiing in the beautiful mountains of Colorado. Steve worked in banking for 40 years, before selling the bank he had built to 11 branches and pursuing real estate development. During his banking career, Steve helped finance the D&F Tower in Denver (so it wasn't demolished), the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in L.A., the TBN Christian television station, and many others. Even though he had many accomplishments, he was proudest of his children and would brag about them to anyone who would listen. ~He was always ready to help a friend or stranger and pray for someone who needed it. Steve enjoyed waterskiing, snow skiing, biking, jet skiing, motorcycling, scuba diving, target shooting, cross-country road trips with his family, and even learned to fly a small twin-engine airplane. Steve spent 25 years working on a book that explained some of the basic concepts in the Bible. You can find his book, 'The Kingdom of God is Here!' at Every morning, you could find him reading his Bible, with his cat Morris in his lap. Above all, Steve sought the Lord first. ~Steve is survived by his wife, Martha; and three children – Kimberly, Jennifer, and Brad. ~The funeral will be held at Fairmount Chapel on Thursday, April 17, 2014 with a viewing open to the public at 1:00 p.m. at 430 S Quebec St, Denver, Colo. 80247. ~In lieu of flowers, please donate to either Forest Home ( ) or Keepers of the Wild ( ) in Steve's honor. ~There will be a separate memorial service in Bullhead City, Arizona in either late May or early June.
