CARTER, GUY N. - MOHAVE COUNTY  
GUY N. CARTER Guy N. Carter, age 80, a former resident of Mohave County, Ariz. and of Needles, Calif. passed away on Monday, April 4, 2016. He was born on December 20, 1935. Guy was born in rural Illinois. He graduated from Nauvoo Illinois High School. He went on to earn his Bachelor's and Master's degrees from Western Illinois University. He then went on to earn a Doctor of Education degree from Kansas University. He married Donna Frazier on August 12, 1956 and they had one son, Evan. During his career, he held a number of positions in education including 16 years in Mohave County and Needles, Calif. retiring in 2009. Due to poor health in 2014, the Carter's moved to Loveland, Colorado to be near their son's family. Guy is survived by his wife, Donna; son, Evan; daughter-in-law; two granddaughters; one grandson; two great-granddaughters; sister, Shirley; nieces, nephews and cousins.

CHAVEZ, PEARL MARY - Bullhead City  
PEARL MARY CHAVEZ Pearl Mary Chavez, our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend to all who knew her, is now in the arms of her Savior Jesus Christ. Pearl, a 35-yr resident of Bullhead City, Ariz. passed away on Tuesday, April 5, 2016 at Centennial Hills Hospital in Las Vegas, Nev. She was born in Mesa, Ariz. on February 15, 1930, but lived mostly in Laramie, Wyo. She studied to be a nurse while caring for her seven children and worked as a nurse for 30 years at Los Angeles County Hospitals. Both her and her husband were members of St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church and St. Vincent De Paul Society. She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Chavez. She is survived by her children, Virginia Parra, Florence Yom, Linda Johnson, Ron Torrez, Cathy Covey, Alice Lieberman, Debbie Perales; 17 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren. Her Service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 23, 2016 at St. Margaret Mary. A luncheon will follow at El Palacio Restaurant and a remembrance at her home.

CLAIR, MARY L - Needles  
Mary L. Clair, age 94, a resident of Needles, Calif. passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, April 16, 2016. Mary, the sixth of seven children, was born at home to William and Maude Hays near the small village of Rogers, Ohio on August 15, 1921. She attended Rogers Area School that served students first through eighth grade. After completing school she worked on the family farm. A few years later a young man, Samuel Clair, would stop by to drive Mary's mother to church on Wednesday nights. Eventually there was a mutual interest and they were married August 28, 1941. Sam joined the Army in early 1942 after the outbreak of war and spent most of his service time in the Pacific Theater. He returned home in 1946 and they bought a farm near Hanoverton Township, Ohio. In the summer of 1957, due to her poor health they sold their farm and relocated the family to Southern Calif. They first lived in San Diego, then Riverside, Santa Paula and Rialto. While living in San Diego, Mary attended Beauty and Barber College and graduated in 1959. After retiring as a cosmetologist and selling their businesses, Sam and Mary Clair moved to Needles in 1990. She was preceded in death by her husband of 71 years, Samuel Clair; one daughter, Freda Boecker; and two sons, Frederick and Jack Clair. Mary is survived by her children, Blaine Clair of Rogers, Ohio, Marilyn Price of Moreno Valley, Calif., Janet (John) Roberts of Camarillo, Calif., Stanley (Mary) Clair of Firestone, Colo., Beatrice (Terry) Richardson and Larry (Char) Clair of Fort Mohave, Ariz.; 22 grandchildren; and numerous great and great-great grandchildren. Those wishing to attend, viewing will be held on Thursday, April 21, 2016 at 12:00 PM with the memorial service immediately after at 1:00 PM at Dimond and Son's Needles Mortuary, 222 E St., Needles, CA. Funeral to follow at Needles Riverview Cemetery, 1101 E. Broadway Ave., Needles, CA.
