Charles Rodney Gilliam, age 80, passed away peacefully at Lake View Terrace, Lake Havasu City, Ariz., on Thursday, December 5, 2013. He was born in Purdy, Mo., on March 8, 1933 to Cedric and Ruth Gilliam of Blythe, Calif.

Rodney lived most of his life in Blythe, Calif., where he went to high school and college, and worked with his father surveying. Rodney was responsible for most of the surveying, design and layout of Lake Havasu City, Ariz. He also did most of the surveying for Don Laughlin's R.V. Resort in Laughlin, Nev.

Rodney moved to Mohave Valley, Ariz. in the early 1970's where he bought property, built his home, and made many friends over the years, all of whom will dearly miss him.

He is survived by his daughters, Denise Laird, and Elaine Parks; son, Leslie Gilliam; brother, Richard (Joyce) Gilliam; sisters, Virginia (Dub) Bates, and Barbara Luckingham; close friend and ex-wife, Peggy Gilliam; and many nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

Rodney's family would like to thank our friends at Lake View Terrace who did everything in their means to keep him happy and celebrating life.

A Celebration of Life will be held privately.
