Darwin L. Richardson, age 91, was born in Cisco, Texas, on January 5, 1921, to Lloyd Henry Richardson and Clifford Katherine Herbert. God's arms enfolded him on December 21, 2012, at home in Needles, Calif. He was welcomed by his mother and father and son, Darwin Wayne Richardson.

Darwin attended medical school at Oklahoma University College of Medicine in Norman, Okla. He practiced medicine in Wyoming, Kansas, Texas, Needles, Calif., and Bullhead City, Ariz. He retired at age 82.

Dr. Richardson was past Mayor of Needles, Calif., and active in Elks, Rotary, and Shriners, as well as other community organizations during his 45 years in Needles. He was a driving force to build hospitals in several communities. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, tennis, and family, but his true passion was practicing medicine. He was an active member of the Methodist Church in Needles, Calif.

Darwin is survived by his seven sons, James (Willetta) of Bullhead City, Ariz., David (Mariza) of Vale, Ariz., Robert (Maria) of Needles, Calif., Donald (Wanda) of St. Helena, Calif., Mikel (Tracy) of Santa Barbara, Calif., Troy (Deanna) of Las Vegas, Nevada, and Norman (Debbie) of Las Vegas, Nevada; and step-daughter Julie Lott of Needles, Calif.

Viewing will be from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m Arizona Time (9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. California time) on Friday, December 28, 2012, at Desert Lawn Funeral Home, 9250 S. Ranchero Lane, Mohave Valley, Arizona, with services following at 12:00 p.m. Arizona time (11:00 a.m. California time) at the Needles Elks Lodge, 1000 Lilly Hill Drive, Needles, California.
