Gerald K. "Jerry" Caldwell, age 86, a 23-year resident of Bullhead City, Ariz. passed away on Monday, January 14, 2013 at his home. He was born on May 29, 1926 in Memphis, Tenn. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was extremely outgoing and friendly, and would talk to anyone at any time.
Jerry moved with his family to Southern California in 1937. At 17 years of age, he enlisted in the Navy during WWII, seeing action in the South Pacific. He worked in the floor covering industry, first as an installer and then in sales from the early 1950's until his retirement in 1990, whereupon he moved to Bullhead City, Ariz.
He was in the Boy Scouts of America, reaching the rank of Life. Later he was scoutmaster of Troop 384 in Gardena, Calif., seeing the advancement of a half-dozen boys to the rank of Eagle Scout including his own son.He was an active member of St. Margaret Mary's Catholic Church and was a fourth order Knight in the Knights of Columbus.
Jerry was preceded in death by his wife of 35 years (who died in 1990), Betty Riley Caldwell; and his wife of 20 years (who died last year), Shirley Candiff Caldwell.
He is survived by his son, Bob (Tina) Caldwell; daughter, Patti Beman; and five grandchildren, Chris Caldwell, Steve Caldwell, Jennifer Nelson, David Caldwell, and Katie Caldwell.
Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, January 18, at St. Margaret Mary's Catholic Church, 1691 E. North Oatman, Bullhead City, Ariz., with Rev. Julius Kayiwa officiating.
Arrangements are under the care of Desert Lawn Funeral Home Crematory & Memorial Gardens in Mohave Valley, Ariz.
