CARL A. JOHNSON JR.

Carl Allen Johnson, age 88, a 33-year resident of Bullhead City, Ariz., passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, August 20, 2014 with his daughters by his side. ~He was born in Los Angeles, Calif. on September 13, 1925 to Carl and Semmie Johnson.

Carl served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II, aboard the USS Tillman. After being honorably discharged he worked for the Pacific Telephone Co. for 35 years as a construction foreman supervisor. He retired at age 55 and moved from Torrance, Calif. to Bullhead City with his wife Carolyn. He was a member of the first elected City Council of Bullhead City from June 1985 to June 1987. Carl was past President of the Telephone Pioneers, past President of Elks Lodge. He was also a member of the Eagles and UFW.

Carl was a Jack-of-all-trades. He was never without a tool of some kind in his hands. He loved building anything from surfboards to home additions. Carl and his wife loved to travel the United States, dance and party on the river.

Our beloved father, grandpa, and friend will be in our hearts forever.

Carl was preceded in death by his wife Carolyn of 50 years; parents, Carl and Semmie Johnson; and sister, Lillian Budell.

Carl is survived by his daughters, Kathleen Johnson and Pamela Woodson, both of Bullhead City, Ariz.; granddaughter, Cynthia Nyrkkanen of Anza, Calif.; great-grandkids, Taylor and Dallas Contreas of Anza, Calif.; and his beloved cat, Misty and dog, Maggie May of Bullhead City, Ariz.

At Carl's request services will be private.
