Jerry Crandall Swain, age 82, a 1-year resident of Mohave Valley, Ariz., died at home in Mohave Valley, Ariz., on Sunday, September 23, 2012.

Jerry was born in Needles, Calif. on May 15, 1930, to Alex and Grace Swain, attended local schools and graduated from High School in 1948. Upon graduation he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served in Alaska and Hawaii. He returned to Needles upon his discharge and hired out to the Santa Fe Railroad.

After he retired, Jerry and Claire moved to Oregon, and then to Reno, Nevada, where he worked for the Washoe County School District Security Force. After he retired from that position he and Claire lived a contented life, enjoying the company of their children and grandchildren.

Jerry continued to love riding his motorcycle and made many trips back to Needles and the Los Angeles area and one very long trip to Alaska with his son, Scott.
