Karen Ruth Edberg, age 72, passed away Saturday, September 29, 2012, in Bullhead City, Ariz.. She was born May 20, 1940 in Minneapolis, Minnesota into a family which eventually had five sons and four daughters. Karen was the next to the last child. The family name was Dickman.

At age eight she suffered a ruptured appendix and was hospitalized for over a year. Despite this setback, Karen developed into a beautiful young woman. She attended Eden Valley High School. Karen and her sister, Dorothy, won the state championship as flutists. In addition to her musical accomplishments, Karen won the Voice of Democracy Award for her essay and the Betty Crocker Homemaker Award.

As an adult, Karen was employed by the Minneapolis-Honeywell Corporation and then became co-editor of Modern Medicine Magazine where her graphic arts experience flourished.

At age thirty-two, she married Richard Edberg who had two sons, Aaron and Eric, from his previous marriage. Karen raised and loved those two boys as her own.

In the 1970's, Richard and Karen moved to Las Vegas, Nevada. Karen worked for two years at the super secret Area 51 of the Nevada Test Site. She then became manager of the Howard Hughes Summa Corporation Print Facility in Las Vegas, Nevada, until it closed eight years later.

She and Richard then purchased a new motorhome and enjoyed the RV lifestyle. Richard died unexpectedly in 2006.

On January 11, 2011, Karen was joined in Holy Matrimony with John D. Hardie in Laughlin, Nevada. Karen retained her name of Edberg.

Our time together was brief, but our joy was eternal. Karen went back home to heaven on September 29, 2012.

Karen's surviving sisters are Dorothy Mulert and Elenita Quinn.

Private services for a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
