~Karon L. Sondgeroth, 74, joined the angels in heaven after a short battle with cancer, surrounded by family at her home in Bullhead City, AZ on September 25, 2013.
~Karon was born Karon Louise Weidner in Sandwich, Ill on July 28, 1939 to Robert and Katherine Weidner.
~She grew up in Earlville, Ill and graduated Valedictorian from Earlville High school in 1957.
In 1958 she married Keith Sondgeroth and they started their family in 1959 with their first child. Soon after, the military moved them to Anchorage Alaska, where they had 5 more children. They eventually found their way back to Illinois, to have one final baby and on to Minnesota for several years. They finally retired in Bullhead City, AZ where they have resided for the past 29 years.
Karon played a major role in the founding of the first and current facility for The Salvation Army in Bullhead City over 20 years ago and has been a board member ever since. She also coordinated the Salvation Army Christmas Bell Ringing Program with the BHC Morning Kiwanis Club of which she was a member for over 10 years, serving on many committees and receiving the Prestigious Kiwanian of the Year award in 2006. She worked most of her life alongside her husband in their many business adventures.
~Karon is survived by her husband of 55 years, Keith Sondgeroth of Bullhead City AZ, and seven children; son Duane (Tammy) Sondgeroth, of Perry GA, son James Sondgeroth of Bullhead City AZ, daughter Julia (Nigel) Moore of Renton WA, son Kenneth (Sherry) Sondgeroth of Bullhead City AZ., son Thomas (Lillian) Sondgeroth of Earlville, Il., daughter Suzanne (Stephen) Irgens of Bullhead City AZ., daughter Laurel (Terry) Town of Lake Havasu City, AZ; 16 Grandchildren; Katie, Kristie, Eric, Frankie, Patricia, Andrew, Jessica, Tiffany, Alecia, Kaila, Jamie, Nicholas, Megan, Tanner, Anastasia and Soren; 8 Great grandchildren: Katie, Satin, Calla, Olivia, Kinsey, MariJaine, Lucas and Avery.
~According to Karon's wishes, family and friends are encouraged to gather at The Salvation Army Chapel in Bullhead City on September 28, 2013 at 11am to celebrate her life with a luncheon to follow. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations, in Karon's name, to your local Salvation Army.
